CMS announced today that Medicare-certified home health agencies (HHAs) that served 59 or fewer unduplicated patients from April 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012 and who met HHCAHPS survey-eligibility criteria are eligible for an exemption from participating in the HH CAHPS Survey for the calendar year (CY) 2014 annual payment update (APU).
HHAs seeking an exemption from participating in the HH CAHPS Survey for the CY 2014 APU must provide a count of the number of patients served between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012 who met survey-eligibility criteria. Agencies are recommended to print out the following form first and complete the count on paper prior to online submission.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) began publicly reporting results from the Home Health Care CAHPS (HH CAHPS) Survey in April of this year. HHAs that do not meet the exemption and fail to report HH CAHPS will have their payment reduced by 2 percent.
HHA’s using NDoc Software can generate and review CC CAHPS submission files. If you qualify for the exemption, the form can be filled out at the following location https://homehealthcahps.org/ForHHAs/ParticipationExemptionRequestForm.aspx.
