Home care and hospice providers are urged to submit comments on the 2013 Home Health Prospective Payment System proposed rule that are due to CMS by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Click here to submit comments electronically.
There are many state homecare and hospice associations that are also submitting comments on the proposed rule. Homecare and hospice providers that are members are encouraged to provide comments and feedback this week directly to the public affairs or regulatory directors so that they can submit on your behalf.
Under the proposed rule, payments to home health agencies are estimated to decrease by approximately 0.10%. The rule also proposes to rebase and revise the home health market basket, allow additional regulatory flexibility regarding therapy and face-to-face encounter requirements and extend certain hospice quality reporting requirements to subsequent years.
Finally, this rule proposes to establish requirements for unannounced, standard and extended surveys and provide a number of alternative sanctions if agencies were not in compliance with Federal requirements.
