The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) and the Forum of State Associations (FSA) joined together to increase awareness around opposition to any copay proposal for Medicare home health services by launching a new “No Sick Tax” Facebook page focused on the single issue of copays. NAHC and FSA urge all home care advocates to join in sending the message for Congress to “oppose any copay proposal for Medicare home health services.”
Requiring seniors and disabled Americans to pay a fee to access home health care is nothing more than a ‘sick tax’ that falls heaviest upon the sickest, poorest, and most vulnerable members of society, impeding their ability to access home health services. Today, millions of America’s seniors and people with disabilities depend on home care services to remain healthy, stable, and out of costly traditional settings. For decades, caring for the elderly, disabled and chronically ill at home has provided a dignified and highly efficient method of treatment. Home-based care is also clinically effective, utilizing advanced technologies and helping to cost-effectively manage chronic diseases that account for 75 percent of our national’s health care spending.
The “No Sick Tax” page provides background material and documents including talking points, issue briefs, studies, reports, articles, briefing papers, and Congressional letters that provide the rationale for this position.
“Like” the Facebook page and share it with your friends so we can stop the sick tax!
